They say we may be in a second Golden Age of Television,
Perhaps a second age in many endeavors, not just one.
Where once supreme and inventive,
We now revisit fields past won,
To extract new expressions looked over,
When in youth we exploded,
To orgasmic creative heights bar none:
Origination on page, on air and on screen,
To show things never before read, heard or seen.
Can there ever be a second of golden ages?
Can one be compared or repeat?
What accounts for the absence of Sages?
What fuels creative retreat?
Perhaps periods of creative drought,
Are the natural cycle of art and thought,
Where a period of fertile regurgitation,
Feeds the next generation of amazing creation.
